Bif In Concert
Haus der Jugend, Freiburg (Germany) on September 12th

The outrageous story
Imagine, you have just driven about 300 kms from Switzerland to Freiburg (Germany) with no idea,
where the damn club is at, the start of the show or anything else, and then -after figuring out at least the phone number- you get a guy
on the phone, who tells you, that he has never heard of Bif before and that the group playing
tonight is Such a Surge... I don't think you can imagine our distress. The guy whatsoever was
noticeably moved, so he checked again and LOOK, BIF WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY...
Needless to say, that we got kinda lost on the way to the club, fretting over one way roads and
pedestrian precints, asking quite a lot of people and finally, finally, finding the "Haus der
Jugend".
There were already 3 tour buses. It was 5 p.m., four hours before show-time,
so we stood in front of the entrance (quite happy being here and even more happy hearing someone
soundchecking with "Sophia") when we saw Bif heading over from the bus to the entrance in quite a
hurry, passing us...
Well, after buying the tickets some hours later,
we were like, hey, Bullyrag is playing too, tonight... Cool.
And then, at 9 p:m, Bif kicked off the show with "Anyday Now".
We were in front row, she even gave me a high five and her show was just fantastic.
She really hypnotizes her audience, magnetizes... you name it!
The way, she announces a song is also something special or her way of telling
anecdotes during the show. ("You know, in Canada, we have these northern lights called Aurora and
I just thought it was a fucking alien. Come and get me, you motherfucking space man...","This song
is dedicated to the Schwanz...")
She had parts of her songs re-arranged, which made it really cool. (Don't get me wrong, they were cool before.)
Unfortunately, after approximately one hour her concert was over and she left the stage.
We went out of the concert room and stuck around in front of the backstage-entrance, when
we spotted a guy wearing a back stage-pass with a Bif-pic on it. It was no one else than her manager,
and he was so sweet to actually go and get Bif. (Hey Peter, thank you sooo very much..) She then came,
took us backstage and we chatted with her. She is such a friendly person and it was really comfy with her. Peter took some pics
of everyone in front of the band equipment and she hugged us at the end.
Now we just wonder, where Bullyrag and Such a Surge really that cool, or was it just our encounter
with Bif, that put a spell on us...
